The village of Llwyngwril, Gwynedd
Cyfarchion oddiwrth Gymdeithas Llwyngwril -
Greetings from the Llwyngwril Community
Llwyngwril is a quiet, welcoming seaside village close to mountains, woods and the sea. It is within the boundary of the Snowdonia National Park so there are many outdoor pursuits such as walking up through the hills and woods behind the village, climbing Cader Idris and watching for buzzards, hen harriers, ravens and kites; taking the Mawddach Estuary pathways, and visiting the local shingle beaches although when the tide is out there are big areas of sand to walk on and many rock pools to investigate.
Barmouth is 15 miles north and can be accessed by car over a small, beautifully preserved wooden bridge at Penmaenpool, by train or on foot via the larger bridge at the mouth of the estuary.
The historical and picturesque market town of Dolgellau is 12 miles away where there is an excellent visitor centre providing an audio-visual exhibition of the Quaker movement in the vicinity.
Tywyn is 8 miles south, is on the train line and it has a supermarket, shops, places to eat and drink, a leisure centre with swimming pool and a cinema. It is home to the unique Talyllyn Railway, with its original 1865 locos and coaches regularly steaming up through the beautiful valleys. For the golf and fishing enthusiast Aberdovey is only 3 miles south from Tywyn with the market town of Machynlleth
a further 20 miles southeast.
The local train station is a 3 minute walk from the bungalow with trains operating regularly north to south along the coast. The village has two shops selling food, papers and postal needs.
Llwyngwril Village is on the A493 between Tywyn and Barmouth (Map)
